Jelle Van Loon

Mechanization Specialist

Trained as an agricultural engineer, Jelle Van Loon is an associate scientist, mechanization specialist and holds a doctoral degree in bio-systems modeling.

He has contributed to and led diverse regional projects in Latin America, Africa and South Asia. He approaches mechanization issues with a focus on machine innovation with R&D covering low-tech solutions to precision agriculture applications, and with the key objective to increase access to and availability of adequate tailor-made farm equipment.

In addition, in his current role as project lead for MasAgro Productor, he actively works on rethinking strategies towards functional agri-food systems, demand-driven innovations for agricultural sustainability and pursues to address technological scaling issues in the developing world.
