The China-CIMMYT International Wheat Symposium, held on July 8–9 in Tai’an, Shandong, brought together leading domestic and international wheat experts to foster global collaboration in wheat research and drive academic innovation for food security. Participants visited key facilities, including the National Key Laboratory for Wheat Breeding and the newly established CIMMYT-China Shandong Wheat Maize Research Center—a joint initiative launched in March 2024 between CIMMYT and Shandong Agricultural University. With research teams dedicated to wheat and maize molecular breeding and smart agriculture, the center aims to become a world-class hub for crop breeding, strengthening China’s agricultural productivity, seed industry competitiveness, and long-term food security while supporting rural revitalization.
