The minister honored Dr. Norman Borlaug’s role in the Green Revolution, while Dr. Sajid highlighted CIMMYT’s impact—nearly 70 improved wheat varieties released in the past decade, with CIMMYT-origin varieties now covering 90% of Pakistan’s wheat area and feeding over 250 million people. The minister reaffirmed government support, emphasizing that adopting advanced varieties and practices is key to higher yields, better farmer incomes, and long-term food self-sufficiency.
