Vimbayi Grace Petrova Chimonyo is an Associate Scientist-Crop Modeller working at CIMMYT. She has more than six years of experience in nutrition-sensitive agriculture, research for development and sustainable intensification of agriculture systems, especially for low input – low output systems.
Petrova Chimonyo has a good understanding of resource use (water, soil nutrients and solar radiation) within the agricultural sector, issues relating to water, food, nutrition and health, and the need for transformative strategies for inclusive food systems.
Her current focus is on the application of crop simulation models to improve productivity under marginal environments. Overall, her research interests are on developing resilient and nutritious cropping systems with an emphasis on sustainable intensification under climate variability and change.
