Post-Doctoral Fellow in Wheat Physiology

Physiological breeding achieves genetic yield gain by crossing parents with beneficial complementary physiological traits. During her PhD, Stephanie Saade identified novel genetic components of salinity tolerance in barley using forward genetics.

As part of her post-doctoral research fellowship, Saade is looking into the combination of traits and markers that allow progeny of crosses to outperform their parents under yield potential and stress environments. She is also involved in projects looking into source-sink manipulation, where populations are screened under different chemical treatments or sowing regimes.
