Michelle Guertin is responsible for the centers of expertise in project management; resource mobilization; monitoring, evaluation and learning; grant management; and the coordination of corporate functions in CIMMYT’s regional offices.
She undertook her undergraduate studies in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at McGill University and her graduate studies in Environmental Sciences at Sherbrooke University.
Before joining CIMMYT in 2014, she worked for over 12 years in the Government of Canada in various leadership positions and ministries, including Environment Canada, Global Affairs Canada and the Canadian International Development Agency, where she was Interim Director of Evaluation.
Throughout her professional career, she has gained extensive experience in policy and regulatory development, international negotiations, program management, program and project evaluation, and management of corporate functions in large institutions. In the various management positions she has held, she has been tasked with leading change management exercises, as well as implementing matrix management approaches.
