Michelle Guertin is CIMMYT’s Head of Project Management. She is responsible for the center of expertise in resource mobilization; project management; monitoring, evaluation and learning; and grant management. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences from McGill University and a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Sherbrooke University. Before joining CIMMYT in 2014, she worked for over 12 years in the Government of Canada in various leadership positions and ministries, including Global Affairs Canada, the Canadian International Development Agency and Environment Canada. Throughout her professional career, she has gained extensive experience in policy and regulatory development, international negotiations, program management, management of corporate functions in large institutions, and program evaluation. Michelle also provides monitoring, evaluation and learning expertise to the CGIAR Research Programs of MAIZE and WHEAT and the CGIAR Excellence in Breeding Platform. She also co-chairs the CGIAR Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Community of Practice.
