Howard Buffett Receives Norman E. Borlaug Award from CIMMYT at Borlaug Summit on Wheat for Food Security

NEB-Award_closeCiudad Obregón, Mexico, March 27, 2014 – Howard G. Buffett, Chairman and CEO of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation was awarded the Norman E. Borlaug Award by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) for “extraordinary philanthropic support of biodiversity and conservation agriculture.”

The award, which is a bronze replica of a full-sized statue of Norman Borlaug, has been given twice before – to M.S. Swaminathan, father of India’s Green Revolution, and Sharad Pawar, India’s Minister of Agriculture. The award is 42 centimeters tall and weighs approximately 6 kilograms without the marble base and 9 kilograms with the base. The base is Green Guatemalan Tikal marble.
