Design: All trials have an alpha lattice design
Plot size: Two 4-m rows.
N.B: Additional information on the trials and materials tested is provided in the reverse.
Note: The above trials are composed of elite well-adapted maize germplasm developed by CIMMYT, and National Programs and private seed companies in the SADC region. For trials that are shipped outside of Africa, only CIMMYT-derived germplasm will be included and hence the number of entries will be less.
CIMMYT-derived germplasm in these trials are well-adapted to altitudes below 1800 masl with resistance to maize streak virus, northern leaf blight (E.turcicum), common rust (P.sorghi) and gray leaf spot (C. zeae-maydis), and tolerance to drought and low soil fertility
All trials are intended to be tested under rainfed conditions in different agroecological zones by collaborators in southern and eastern Africa. Collaborators that have managed stress screening sites for diseases, insect pests, drought, nitrogen stress and/or low pH established are encouraged to grow the trials under those conditions. Combined results will be widely distributed.
Please provide a physical address and an "Import Permit" to ship seeds to your country. This permit is required by Zimbabwe authorities. If no Import Permit is required to receive the seed from Zimbabwe, request an official letter issued by the quarantine authority in your country and send it to CIMMYT's office in Harare, Zimbabwe [Fax +263 4 301327; email cimmyt-zimbabwe@cgiar.org]
