September event

CIMMYT will celebrate its 50th anniversary during a three-day event September 27-29, 2016, at its headquarters in El Batán, México.

2016 marks the 50th year of CIMMYT’s existence, and we will be celebrating throughout the year, with a capstone event in September 2016. We will showcase CIMMYT’s successes, impacts, and partnerships, and we will look toward the future: What will CIMMYT need to become in the next 50 years? What do the complex challenges of the future mean for agricultural research-for-development at large?

We will highlight the following themes:

  • Maize and wheat science is fundamental for food security and sustainable development.
  • CIMMYT has made impacts well beyond the size of our institution, and is a key player in addressing research-for-development challenges of the future.
  • Our partnerships enable us to make impacts with our research, and we want to highlight and strengthen those partnerships.

We look forward to exploring these topic with CIMMYT50 participants, and to planning for an impactful future.

Information about the program and logistics will be available on this website in the near future.
