Jules Janick is the James
Troop Distinguished Professor of Horticulture at Purdue University.
He received his BS at Cornell University (1951) and his MS (1952)
and PhD (1954) at Purdue University in plant genetics and breeding.
At Purdue, he has been involved with apple and pear breeding and
is presently the Director of the Center for New Crops and New Products.
Janick is the founder and editor of Horticultural Reviews and Plant
Breeeding Reviews. He has received honorary doctorates from the
University of Bologna and the Technical University of Lisbon.
